Combine the following ingredients in a large saucepan and cook for a couple of hours:
Remember, this is just a guideline - feel free to exercise your own judgement. It is fine to cook and eat immediately but if you let it sit in the fridge overnight it’s even better - the flavors mix together and it develops a lovely thick texture as the grains continue to absorb water. If it becomes too thick, just add extra water.
